WE NEED TO KEEP THEIR DREAMS ALIVE EVEN MORE….

The Scholarships Program was established pursuant to the mission of the Filipino-Australian Foundation of Qld Inc., to create and develop an educational assistance program for deserving students both in Australia and overseas.

Since 1997, we already provided more than 300 students overseas and seven(7) bursary scholarship grants in Australia which started in 2019.

These grants have provided financial relief during difficult times.

The following are some of the testimonies;

1.) Engalgado, Phoebe Joy

Phoebe Joy is a daughter of peanuts, fishcrackers and chicharons vendors. She too is selling the same to her classmates to have an additional allowance. She applied in Central Philippine University as a student assistant and was accepted. She is now in her third year level as a Business Administration student.


2.) Amosin, Athea Mae

Athea Mae came from a poor family, and because of financial constraints her parents cannot afford to send her to college. She decide d to apply for scholarship at Central Philippine but unsuccessful but after her second attempts, finally she was accepted and assigned to work at the College of Law department and taking up Bachelors of Arts major in English and hopes to become a teacher someday.


3.) Factor, Lyka Mae

Lyka Mae grew up under the care of her grandmother. Her parents left her to her grandma when she was only seven days old because her parents are struggling financially. She is enrolled at Central Philippine University and as a working student.


4.) Guilamo, Ciarra

Ciarra is from a poor family. He father is construction worker and her mother is a housewife. Her poverty is not a hinder for her dream to pursue in college. She enrolled at Central Philippine University as a working student


5.) Jornadal, Herman

Herman is a son of a farmer and a housekeeper. His family is so poor that his parents cannot afford him to send to college but it did’nt stop him. He applied as working student at Central Philippine University and taking up Bachelor’s Degree of secondary Education major in English and now in third year.


6.) Lasprilla, Maggie Mae

Maggie Mae is a daughter of a laborer and barangay health worker. As an elementary student, she has to work half kilometers just to attend school. And at the age of 16, she worked as a housekeeper until the age of 22 and her employer helped her with her tuition fee and stopped attending school when her employer died and at age 23, she was able to attend school at Central Philippine University as a working student after her sister graduated from CPU as a working student also.


7.) Suelo, Ailene Grace

Ailene Grace lost her father when she was in high school and his father is the only provider of the family. She was facing a big problem then going to college and a neighbor told her about scholarship at Central Philippine University and she applied for it. She is now in her third year level taking up Bachelor of Science in Business administration on Financial Management.


8.) Tamara, Johnny

Johnny was born in a less privileged family and got 9 siblings. He is a consistent honor student and graduated in high school as salutatorian. He applied academic scholarship at CPU but at the end he failed to maintain his grades to maintain his scholarship. He applied as a working student and passed all the exams and he is now in his fourth year level taking up Business Management.


9.) Tamoy, Angel Ann

Angel Ann grew up with her Auntie because her parents have financial problem. She graduated as salutatorian in high school but it was not easy for her to continue her college because her uncle of whom the financial provider of the family died. But because she graduated as a salutatorian, she was able to enroll at CPU but lost her scholarship at the end because she was not able to maintain her grades to be eligible for the academic scholarship. She eventually applied as a working student and now in third year level taking up Business Management.


10.) Salivio Lester John

Lester John is a son of a pedicab driver and housewife. He was born with speech impediment. He works as a janitorial student assistant at Central Philippine University under the Work Student Study Program Scholarship.


11.) Sampiano, Dioden

Dioden’s mother needs to loan her bank card just to pay off his tuition fee. His father has no work because of illness and declared not fit to work. He offers everything to God.


12.) Camarig, Crystal Love

Crystal Love came from a broken family. Her mother left her and her father when she was only in Grade 2. She is raise solely by her father. Her father is a tricycle driver, a laborer and accepts laundry from time to time just to send her to college. She is now in third year level taking up Bachelor of Science in Education major in Mathematics and been a consistent dean’s lister. She is as well doing tutorial job to earn extra money. She is a scholar fo a Work Student Program at Central Philippine University.


13.) Mateo, Charlyn

Charlyn is a third year Library and Science college student at Central Philippine University and a scholar of Work Student Program scholarship. He r mother works as a cook in the poultry farm and her father is unemployed due to illness. She is also a contributing writer in one of the publishing house and been joining in writing literacy for the hope of winning the prize and can bring home cash to the family. She might graduate with honors.


14.) Malimban Allyn Joy

Allyn Joy’s father died when she was only 8 years old and her mother has to leave her and her siblings under the care of her grandparents in Guimaras to work in Manila just to earn money for their living. She was a victim of bully in her elementary days. She is a scholar of Work Student Program at Central Philippine University.


15.) Gerapista, Rochel Joy

Rochel Joy is a third year college student at Central Philippine University taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Business Management. She is a scholar of Work Student Program and is assigned at CSA. Being a working student, she needs to wake up at 4:30 AM to clean the school’s classrooms and would finish until 7:00 AM and be back again in the evening at 7PM to clean the classroom until 8PM. Her father is the sole financial provider of the family and it is very hard for the family. Her father is working day and night just to sustain the needs of the family and at times would only eat rice and salt or soy sauce as their viand.


16.) Sorioso, Divine Grace

Divine Grace is a working student beauty queen. She represented the Janitorial Student Association of Central Philippine University and won the title. She is also the winner of Iloilo City Student Assistant Association beauty contest and Ms. College of Arts and Sciences of Central Philippine University.


17.) Barroa, Analiza

Analiza is a Financial Management student at Central Philippine University and a scholar of Student work Program. She is assigned to clean the elementary building and her work starts at 5:00 in the morning and needs to go back in the evening at 7:30 until 8:30. Her work composed mostly of sweeping the floor and applying floor wax. She is a devoted Christian and offers everything to God.
